It is from an 1891 German edition of a Rand, McNally & Co., Neuer Familien-Atlas de Welt (New Family Atlas of the World), a copy of the title page is included. The map halves were printed on separate pages and have been joined along the centerfold. Except for the title in the margin, the map is in English and basically the same as the English version. The company was catering to the large German immigrant population that was coming into America at that time. It does have original hand color, probably done with the aid of stencils as was typical of the era. It is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. Overall, a rare map that would frame up nicely. Size: The map area between the neat lines measures approximately 12 1/2 by 19 inches (32x48cm) on a 14 by 21 inch page (36x54cm) Condition: It is in Fair to Good condition for its age with overall tonal ageing and darkening around the margins and along the centerfold, light edgewear with a couple of minor edge tears. The map halves were printed on separate pages and have been joined along the centerfold and matches up fairly well, there are two unrelated partial maps on reverse, see the pics for more on condition.
