Description: 1936 Coca Cola Baseball Boys Ad framed. This framed ad is a great piece of history, the slogan "the pause that refreshes" stems from advertising during The Great Depression. In the 1920s on the verge of economic collapse the president of Coca Cola Robert Woodruff understood that people's lives were chaotic. He wanted to separate from the competition and rival soft drinks during a time when people had less money to spend of soft drinks. He wanted people to look to Coca Cola as more than just a beverage. He wanted them to view Coke as a momentary escape from their hectic lives at the time. Partnering with his friend Archie Lee and a copywriter at the D'Arcy Co. advertising company in St. Louis MO. "Pause and refresh yourself" ran the original tag line in 1923. This ad is the 1936 rendition of that tag line. The add itself has some minor wear and fading as one would expect with age. See photos.
