Description: VINTAGE Circa 1974 ~* ANIMAL FAIR *~**~ 20" "CLARA" THE DOG ~**** "HENRY THE DOG'S" FRIEND **** With DRESS & ORIGINAL "STORY" HANGTAG **NO RESERVE_______________________________ SIZE: The measurements for Clara are as follows: 20" height; 11" width (measured arm to arm for width) DESCRIPTION: This auction features a vintage Animal Fair Co. stuffed plush. Her name is "Clara" and she appears to be a dog. I believe that she is meant to be a "friend" for the "Henry the Dog" character. She is a light brown to brown color with short felt-type "fur." She also has a blonde styled hair on her head and big floppy ears. There is also some additional blonde on her tail. She is wearing an attached red bow that is meant to tie in the middle, top of her head. She also has her original checkered red and white dress which ties at the neck and middle, back body area. She has an open mouth to show a red tongue and black plastic eyes with emphasized eyelashes underneath this. Her nose is bit odd in that it appears somewhat triangular, but rounded on the bottom. She does have a little puff ball on her tummy that I believe was meant to be her belly button. She comes with her original body tag and has the original hangtag, too. The hangtag itself is a little unusual as it is more of small story booklet instead. This seems to be about being friends with people. This is about 8 pages long and appears to be geared toward a young child's reading level. Her body tag is located on the back of her right foot. The front reads, "Animal Fair Inc./ Copy Right / Chanhassen, MINN./ 55317 / Hand Washable." The back reads, "Contents/All new material/Shredded Synthetic Foam/ MASS. REG. #19/ PENN. REG. #113/ OHIO REG. #4026/ ME. REG. #16." Although it is not marked, I believe this was also made in the United States. As she likely turned 50 years old this year, I would say she really is doing fairly well. Please do view the pictures and video as a part of the overall description. CONDITION: FAIR ~ I am considering the age and use of this item when factoring the condition rating. Clara appears to be in Fair condition for the age and use. There is some expected age and storage wear seen but nothing I would consider too unusual for the age. I am not sure how the "hair" on her head was originally, but I suspect it is probably a bit more messy than it originally was. I believe her "fur" was probably always short -- which apparently seems to have kept it from bunching up as some others might do with age. The little hangtag "booklet" does have some bending to it, but can still be read quite easily. As noted in the description, her nose is a little oddly shaped but -- as best as I can tell -- it was made this way from the beginning. She could use a gentle hand-washing, but I will leave any cleaning to the new owner. She doesn't necessarily have a bad smell, but kind of has the faint older smell of storage. I have looked her over and did not see any rips, tears or holes. Since she's now 50 years old (and a child's toy!) Clara could definitely be doing a lot worse.
