Description: Vintage 14k yellow gold ring with a 1988 1/20 oz .999 gold 5 yuan panda coin in good condition.This ring is marked 14K and 585. The unusual thing about this ring is these rings were typically set so you could see both sides of the coin even on rings. You can't see the back side of this ring. I am not a jeweler, but my guess is the maker or jeweler used a glue or jewelers epoxy to set this coin in the ring. With a 10x loupe I can see in a few spots something black between the coin and the ring. This ring weighs 4.7 grams.It is a size 9. It can be resized, but a jeweler would have to tell you how much up or down it can be resized.The top of the ring measures 5/8" and gets smaller going down the sides to 1/8" wide at the bottom of the shank. Almost all the matte finish that is supposed to be around the panda and on the panda's head and body except for the legs is worn off. There isn't supposed to be a matte finish on the legs or the inside of the ears.It looks like someone wore this ring a lot because of all the scratches on the ring and the coin.There are some dents on the backside of the ring I would assume happened when the coin was set in the ring.
