Description: HECKEL ENGLISH HORN, c.19401 of approximately 40 Conservatory system English horns Heckel made in total beginning c.1930 until the last one was made in 1967Keyed to low BbJust overhauled and set-up by oboe maker Thomas HinikerConverted from full automatic octave system to become semi-automatic octave system by Thomas Hiniker"Bleuzet system" mechanism for D#-E trill added by Thomas HinikerHas a "natural C key" for right index finger, an F resonance key, a "natural F" (E#) resonance key, alternate right hand Bb key, articulated C#, B-C link, Ab-Bb trill. The original Heckel bell (comes with the instrument) is a "dud." Thomas Hiniker designed and built a new bell (Cocobolo) for this instrument, and it matches the instrument beautifully.3 original Heckel bocals. The #3 length bocal seems to work best. I would recommend pairing the instrument with a Hiniker #2B13 bocal (not included). The instrument was cracked in the upper joint, though this crack has been expertly repairedOriginal case in fine condition. This Heckel English horn plays OK, no wild, unstable, or "wonky" notes. I would say that this instrument would be best for a Heckel buff, Heckel collector/player. I will consider international shipping on a case by case basis. If you happen to live outside the US, please contact me before placing a bid to make arrangements for shipping in advance. Shipping within the US will be accomplished by USPS Registered Mail. I will consider offers. Questions?Peter Hurd Oboe
