Description: Mint/near mint USPS 50 stamp sheet commemorating the historic Iwo Jima flag raising on February 23, 1945. This sheet is signed by Iwo Jima Medal of Honor recipient Hershel Woody Williams. Woody was a flamethrower on Iwo Jima and he was the only Marine to be awarded the MOH for actions on February 23, 1945–the same day the iconic flag raising photograph by Joe Rosenthal was taken. Woody was also the last surviving WW2 Medal of Honor recipient. Signed in red sharpie. “Hershel Williams Medal of Honor Iwo Jima Feb 23, 1945”. This is a fantastic item for any military/Marine memorabilia collector. Great for Marine man cave or veteran’s organization.
