Description: This is an original Shanghai poster from the 1930s.It has a metal strip on the top edge and another metal strip on the bottle edge.It measures 20 3/4" wide x 30 1/4" long. The poster is not faded. The color on these posters was never vibrant, was more subdued and lighter colored. Good condition. No tears. Will be shipped rolled in a tube mailer. Original 1930s Chinese / Shanghai Advertising Poster features a pretty girl advertising Moet & Chandon Champagne, Haig Whiskey, Taylor's Gin and others. The girl is sitting on a couch and two glasses are shown on the table with the champagne bottle, indicating she is not alone. She is sitting with her legs crossed which could have been considered unladylike in the 1930s. One interesting aspect of these posters is that many featured American or English products. This would probably have been a counter-culture advertising technique since many Chinese did not have radios in the 1930s and this would have let them know about many products in the import/export market.
