Description: Selling my dad’s lifelong collection so see my other listings. Pops was a stickler on condition, so all my offerings are rare and in excellent condition. Offered here are 4 rare Universal Recording Company 12” discs containing a complete radio broadcast from a CBS radio program of May 31, 1939, featuring Paul Whiteman, the King of Jazz. What a great radio program!! Seven of the 8 sides of these discs were used to record the radio program There are a total of 10 songs on these double-sided 12-inch discs. These discs appear to be black lacquer acetate coated aluminum. I believe these are 78 rpm, and so the entire program is most probably around 26 minutes long. These discs were recorded live as it was being broadcast on May 31, 1939. There are 4 discs and therefore 8 sides, however one side is blank (no recording on side 8). These discs were recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, so these are very rare! Song played by Paul Whiteman include “Love Is Sweeping the Country”, “If I Had My Way”, “How Warm The Weather”, Don’t Worry About Me”, “Sly Old Gentleman”, “Tia Juana”, “Yankee Doodle”, “Bluebirds & Blackbirds”, “Blue Evening”, “Concert In The Park.” These are extremely rare, perhaps one-of-a-kind discs featuring rare performances. I could not find any reference to any other existing copies of this radio performance. Discs are in Very Good or better condition with Very Good to Excellent sound and play perfectly with no skips. The record playing surfaces are scratch-free. Please excuse my photography. Any ‘irregularities’ that you see on the disc surfaces are reflections from the surroundings onto the very shiny highly reflective surfaces of the disc. FREE SHIPPING TO USA CUSTOMERS
