Description: For your consideration is a very rare and collectable Phillipson Premium Bamboo fly rod. The Premium was Phillipson's highest grade fly rod and was Bill Phillipson's answer to the coveted Granger Registered bamboo fly rod. This specimen is perhaps the most desirable of all Phillipson's models being 8' in length and 3-piece making for easy transport. All rod sections are full length (camera angle make them appear different lengths). The ferrule fit is excellent. The scripting is excellent and original. The cork shows use and someone used the back of the handle to hold their fly. This is very easily remedied, should you wish. The wraps appear to be 100% original. The stripper wrap shows a slight discoloration. The mid male ferrule wrap is missing a few turns and should be addressed prior to fishing. All guides and both tip tops are in good shape. There is no sign of damage or repair to the cane. The black anodized reel seat shows signs of use. This rod could hit the water tomorrow with just the mid wrap being addressed. The VERY RARE square tube was introduced in 1955, the same year that Phillipson stopped cataloging bamboo. It includes the square top (these are often missing) and original bag. The rod has been safely packed for shipping and will be shipped fully insured via USPS REGISTERED mail to ensure its safe arrival. Thank you for looking and please check out my other classic fly fishing auctions. I'll soon be listing some Scott fiberglass fly rods and more classic cane rods.
