Prussia Presentation Watch Kaiser Wilhelm II to award recipient of the PLM

Description: This exceptional timepiece holds significant historical value, as it was gifted by Kaiser Wilhelm II to a winner of the prestigious Orden Pour le Mérite, a high military honor awarded in Germany for outstanding achievements during wartime. The Kaiser was known to personally present these awards to deserving officers, and in some cases, he would also award a special watch to the recipient. Although the identity of the recipient of this watch is unknown, it remains a remarkable symbol of excellence and valor in the military. The watch was created by Paul Ditisheim, a renowned Swiss watchmaker known as the "Father of Chronometers." Ditisheim made significant contributions to the field of horology and received several major awards, including the Grand Prix at the 1900 Paris Exposition and the gold medal at the 1912 Swiss National Exhibition. Kaiser Wilhelm II was known for his high standards and demand for only the best, making it unsurprising that he sought out Ditisheim for his needs. The watch features a simple face with clear markings indicating the maker, Paul Ditisheim, and his company, Solvil. Two smaller faces are included, with one marking the seconds and the other displaying the numbers one and thirty-six. The hours are marked by large numbers from one through twelve, and the minute and hour hands are prominent. The case of the watch is made of silver and features the hallmarking of Paul Ditisheim and Solvil. The most striking aspect of the watch is the glorious enamel decoration of the Orden Pour le Mérite, which is beautifully attached to the case. The blue and gold colors of the decoration stand out, and the four eagles between the arms are eye-catching. This is an important piece of history and a remarkable symbol of military excellence. It is in pristine condition, with no damage to the face or the Pour le Mérite. It does run when wound, but care should be taken not to over-wind it. To own such a unique piece of history is truly an extraordinary opportunity.     Paul Ditisheim (1868-1945) was a Swiss watchmaker who is considered the "Father of Chronometers." He founded several watchmaking companies, including Solvil et Titus, which produced high-quality watches known for their accuracy and precision. Ditisheim was a pioneer in the field of chronometry, making several advances in watchmaking technology that earned him major awards in 1903 and 1912. Solvil et Titus was founded in 1887 and was one of the leading Swiss watch brands of the 20th century. The company was known for its high-quality watches and innovative designs. In addition to its own brand, Solvil et Titus produced watches for other companies and organizations, including the French Air Force and the Hong Kong Police Force. Today, Solvil et Titus is owned by the Swatch Group and continues to produce high-quality watches that are popular among collectors and watch enthusiasts. The company's history and legacy are an important part of the rich tradition of Swiss watchmaking.
