Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - While the movement keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over automatically as it should when using the semi-quickset date function the date wheel does not want to consistently align. When this happens manually moving the hands 720 degrees to roll over a new date tends to work out the kink. Additionally, while the screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down without issue it cannot be wound more than two full revolutions without screwing back down, likely suggesting that the stem is too short. In lieu of winding the crown to jump-start the movement a gentle shake of the watch or spin face down will immediately fire it up. The more the watch is shook and or spun the longer the movement will run. Given the issues mentioned and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.***********This seldom seen vintage 1960's Venus has a heavily aged black "1.5 UC Ra SWISS Ra 1.5 UC" signed dial and the lume on the dial and hands no longer glows after being exposed to bright light. As clearly seen in the pictures the hour hand is missing some lume. The bezel, which shows wear and is missing majority of its black enamel paint, rotates smoothly bidirectionally. The all stainless steel case shows considerable wear, dents and dings with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "SWISS MADE - WATERPROOF - ANTIMAGNETIC - INCABLOC - STAINLESS STEEL" with "VENUS" followed by "AUTOMATIC,""981601,""3110,""CONTROLE A" and "15 ATMOSPHERES" stamped in the center. The crystal, which presents nicely, shows scratching. The 21 jewels Swiss "VENUS" stamped Felsa 4007N automatic movement with semi-quickset date function keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over automatically as it should. However, when using the semi-quickset date function the date wheel does not want to consistently align. When this happens manually moving the hands 720 degrees to roll over a new date tends to work out the kink. The semi-quickset date function, were it to work perfectly as it should, works by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. Additionally, while the screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down and the time can be set without issue the crown cannot be wound more than two full revolutions without screwing back down, likely suggesting that the stem is too short. In lieu of winding the crown to jump-start the movement a gentle shake of the watch or spin face down will immediately fire it up. The more the watch is shook and or spun the longer the movement will run. Given the issues mentioned and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 45 mm. A complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
