Description: Original oil on canvas painting by Kenneth Frazier (1867-1949) circa 1901 signed with estate stamp lower left. Estate of Richard Mellon Scaife, Pittsburgh, PA with multiple exhibition labels on verso. Frazier was born in Paris to American parents and studied at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as well as in England and Paris at the Academy Julian. He met and became friends in Paris with Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Paul Verlaine, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, and Oscar Wilde. Frazier was a member of the National Academy of Design in New York and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia in 1917among others. He was bestowed an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Lehigh University in 1944.
